If you’ve read PART 1, then you’re on the edge of your seat just waiting to see what style I went for for my office makeover. If you haven’t read it, click over and see…
Here is a short summery if you’re not into clicking. My office was in bad shape. Dark. Too much empty space. And I never worked in it. So I decided to take a chance on Havenly, and I’m so excited to share the Part 2 of my design process! Ready to see which of the 3 styles I went with?! Drumroll…
I chose: Boho Meets Glam!
Now, there’s not much from that photo. And I cringed at the word glam, but here’s the bit from Erica, my stylist, as to what she imagined for the space:
With this idea, I wanted to go for a boho meets glam vibe. Playing with various metallics, woods, and natural materials to create a unique fashion forward space perfect for client interaction and a crisp yet organic work environment.
She wanted to make sure I knew that the idea phase is meant to step outside the box from your inspiration photos and style guide I shared with her. It helped her get a better understanding of my aesthetics and desires for the space based on my feedback. Here are the comments I had for Erica:
I love the idea of “fashion forward,” “crisp yet organic.” This looks funky and mature. I love the colors in the art sample. I’m not keen on chevron but it seems neutral enough that another piece would work as well. Also, when I think about glam, I think of glitter and fur – I’m not really about that side of glam. So, this level of glam is perfect…. more feminine-cool 🙂 Also, it’s begging for a plant [it would die with no light in my office, but maybe a fake one??] Also, would love to see your lighting suggestions in this space!
Here is what she pulled together:
And I about flipped out! I mean, I loved the look of all of this and my main fear was that it was too cool for me. And although I was still a little nervous how things might come together in my actual space, I pulled the trigger on a few of those key items.
One thing I experienced was some of my favorite pieces selling out, not being delivered, or being out of my price range. I had to scour the inter webs to find replacements for cheaper. I also knew I wanted to incorporate my own photos… so then began the layout challenge.
On what wall would I put my mirror? Artwork? A gallery of my images? Would it be too much on the walls? Where would I put all of these new pieces? With the help of Instagram story votes and FaceTimes with a few stylish friends, I ended up with a room I LOVE. I can’t wait to share how it all came together!
