8 years ago, I inquired with Jane Johnson about her graphic design services. They were gorgeous and way beyond my budget, but I’ve been following her ever since. Over the years I’ve learned about her love for studying the bible, her journey into motherhood and her 10 year wait to get there, and the beginnings of her first book.
Well, on October 2, her book, Mercy Like Morning, will officially be out in bookstores!!
When I saw Jane was asking for applicants for her launch team a few months ago, I immediately clicked the link and started filling out the application. I knew there was a strong chance I wouldn’t make it since I don’t have a very big social media following and I’ve never actually been a part of any type of launch… but some how I made it.
Part of the deal was that we get an advanced copy. So, I’ve read this book. And y’all, it’s good.
The subtitle says it all: Discovering Truth in Seasons of Waiting. If you’ve ever waited for/through something…. a baby, a spouse, healing, grief, a job… this book will nourish your soul. In it, Jane shares the sweetest, most heart wrenching story: her own. Experiencing delayed fertility and the terrible grief of loosing a best friend, Jane began to devour the bible. And she shares what she learned with us. This book will turn your heart and ear to the Word of God. Through Jane’s own story of grief and waiting, she shares how her love for God’s word grew, and very practically, how you can learn to study the bible.
Chad and I find ourselves in a season of waiting. 2.5 years of waiting to start a family. It’s not a secret, but I haven’t talked about it publicly either. There is more to our story, and I plan to share more. But reading this book in this season reminded me how important it is to be familiar with God’s voice and promises. You never know when you’ll have to cling to them tightly.

Thank you for sharing Ali! We had a long season of waiting for our first and I have never felt so hopeless. I’m wishing you peace and comfort during your journey, whatever and whenever the destination may be! My mom is experiencing a huge shift in her life now and I will absolutely recommend the book to her. Sending you love!!

Waiting is incredibly difficult, especially for something that comes easily to others and when it’s something so pure. No one can truly understand how difficult it is unless they have experienced it for years, without another child at home already. Praying you’re given encouragement and strength during such a difficult journey.
